A deeply emotional journey through childhood trauma, resilience, and the search for unconditional love, following a young boy’s fight to survive neglect, overcome abuse, and ultimately find the family, safety, and belonging he always deserved.
Mack Ocker started writing at the age of fifteen and hasn’t stopped since. The books he has written so far total about twenty-five and have the same types of situations and challenges. Mack Ocker was born with cerebral palsy. It affects every part of his body except his mental status. Cerebral palsy can vary in severity, which he also explains in his books. An interesting fact about Mack is that he does all his typing and communicating on his iPhone with his nose. Growing up, Mack Ocker was around foster children a lot. Some of them have become siblings, so to speak. He has also been around kids and adults with disabilities. He went to college for human services. His hope is to raise awareness through his books about disabilities and family drama. Mack Ocker’s interests besides writing are playing wheelchair soccer and skiing in Colorado, spending time with his four nieces, and listening to music.
Grounded in lived experience, these stories explore disability, family dynamics, and resilience with honesty and depth. Each narrative is designed to foster empathy, challenge assumptions, and spark meaningful conversations.
Written from both personal and professional insight, the books bring clarity to the realities of cerebral palsy and varied abilities—offering readers a deeper understanding beyond stereotypes or surface-level narratives.
From navigating daily challenges to celebrating personal victories, these stories highlight determination, adaptability, and purpose—reinforcing the message that ability is defined by mindset, not limitation.
